These videos, captured by soldiers, civilians, and international observers, bypass the curated narratives of official channels, providing raw, visceral insights into the tactics, the losses, and the sheer human cost of this conflict. They are fragments of a larger story, pieced together to reveal a more complete picture of a war defined by its ambiguity and ever-shifting frontlines. We’ve curated a selection of videos offering stark snapshots from recent weeks, showcasing everything from the evolving role of drone warfare to the alleged presence of North Korean fighters. This uncensored view forces us to confront uncomfortable questions: What is the true impact of foreign involvement? How are both sides adapting their tactics in the face of relentless and evolving pressures? And what does this footage tell us about the future of this war?
Key Takeaways: A Soldier’s-Eye View
Drone Warfare Dominates:FPV drones are not just a tactical tool; they’re reshaping the battlefield. From thwarting Russian tank advances to eliminating scattered infantry, these small, agile weapons are playing an increasingly critical role in Ukraine’s defense.
Kursk: A Crucible of Conflict: The Kursk region has become a focal point of intensified fighting. Footage shows Ukrainian forces utilizing advanced weaponry like Bradley IFVs and Abrams tanks to penetrate Russian lines, while other reports suggest a disturbing new development: the integration of North Korean soldiers into Russian formations.
Human Resilience Under Fire: The videos highlight the incredible resilience and determination of individual soldiers. One clip captures the bravery of a single Ukrainian soldier holding his ground against a wave of Russian attackers, a testament to the human spirit in the face of overwhelming odds.
Tactical Shifts and Failures: Russian tactics appear to be evolving, but not always effectively. Analysis of footage from Ivano-Darivka reveals costly mistakes, including poor coordination of artillery support and a reliance on outdated mechanized assaults, leading to significant losses.
Information Warfare: The battle for narrative control is as fierce as the fighting on the ground. Leaked videos, firsthand accounts, and accusations of disinformation highlight the ongoing struggle to shape public perception of the war.
Beyond the Headlines: Deciphering the Digital Battlefield
The increasing prevalence of uncensored footage underscores a significant shift in how wars are documented and perceived. While official channels often present a sanitized version of events, these raw videos offer a glimpse into the brutal reality faced by soldiers and civilians. The footage from Ivano-Darivka, for instance, exposes the devastating consequences of tactical blunders, potentially revealing deeper systemic issues within the Russian military. Furthermore, the alleged presence of North Korean fighters raises troubling questions about the escalating internationalization of the conflict, a trend that demands close scrutiny. The reliance on unverified information, however, also presents a challenge. Discerning truth from propaganda requires careful analysis and cross-referencing with credible sources.

Today, the biggest updates come from the Kursk direction.
Here, after a series of disastrous defeats, Russian forces decided to change their tactics and tried a new assault on the main Ukrainian stronghold. But even more importantly, new footage revealed how North Korean soldiers are undergoing active integration into Russian formations and getting ready for large-scale combat operations in the region.
The main Russian goal continues to be to cut off Ukrainian forces in the northern part of the salient with a pincer maneuver toward Malaya Loknya. But after a disastrous failed assault through the settlements left many Russian soldiers encircled, and false reports only worsened the situation, Russians were forced to change their tactics.
If we look at the topographic map, we can see that Malaya Loknya sits on a hill chain with a hardened road running along it. In a change of tactics, instead of advancing through the settlements in the lowlands, Russians are now trying to advance over the hill chain to reach their goal of capturing Malaya Loknya. Besides being able to attack Ukrainian positions from the same height, by taking up positions in the tree line along the road, Russians would simultaneously gain fire control over the settlements in the lowlands.
Russians launched several waves of assaults along this road, while Ukrainians had set up to repulse them most effectively. Geolocated footage shows how Russian vehicles sped down the road but continuously blew up on Ukrainian anti-tank mines. The footage also shows how Russians did not use purely mechanized forces in their assaults, but unarmored trucks filled with infantry. This indicates that Russians had not yet fixed their communication issues, and expected the road to be already secured by previous assaults. After Ukrainian artillery had opened fire, shrapnel tore through the unarmored personnel carriers, as the soldiers and trucks scattered in all directions to get out of the Ukrainian kill zone as fast as possible.
Even though Ukrainian drones were able to hunt down many of the remaining Russian soldiers, Ukrainians could not prevent small groups of them from making it to dugouts and trenches in the surrounding trees. This is a typical Russian tactic, where Russian infantry scatters in all directions to take shelter, establishing new positions to inch the frontline forward, even after a failed assault. Ukrainians understood this and sent in special forces groups to finish off the remaining soldiers or take them captive. As the Russian soldiers often do not have the supplies or training necessary to fight off the well-trained and battle-hardened Special Forces operators successfully, many Russians simply surrender shortly after being taken under fire.
Interestingly, one captured Russian soldier revealed that there was a North Korean military encampment in the region, just 25 kilometers or 15 and a half miles from Ukrainian lines. He also added that that they were instructed not to disclose any information on North Korean fighters, and to only mention Buryats, which are an Asian-Mongolian ethnic group within eastern Russian territories, to hide North Korean involvement as much as possible. Later, another Russian soldier leaked a video showing how they were teaching North Korean soldiers Russian phrases. This indicates that North Koreans are preparing to engage in active frontline combat operations soon, and are trying to ensure that they will be able to work together when conducting assaults in the future.
Overall, Russian forces try to inch themselves forward with every attack, as even after a failed assault, Ukrainians cannot prevent some Russian soldiers from taking up new positions. Ukrainians maintain an active defense by clearing the exhausted Russian soldiers, while gaining valuable intel on Russian and North Korean operations. Russians are losing more and more of their better-trained soldiers with every failed assault, and likely do not have enough of them in reserve to accomplish their goals on their own. Likely, the North Korean soldiers will be sent forward as a first wave of assault, to deplete Ukrainian supplies, expose firing positions, and trigger hidden land mines and ambushes. The idea being that after this, Russian troops can come in to clean up the remaining Ukrainian positions, a Russian cannon fodder tactic that was widely applied to Russian convict recruits, leading to countless losses of troops.

Today there are a lot of updates from the Siversk direction.
Here, after the previous disastrous assault, the Russians decided to change their vector of attack and launched a new massive assault, this time from the northern flank of Ivano-Darivka. In spite of strong pressure from another large Russian mechanized assault, the Ukrainian fighters of the 54th Mechanized Brigade took lessons from the 10th Mountain Assault Brigade and organized a multilayered defense meant to repulse anticipated Russian assaults.
Last time I told you how Russian mechanized assault south of Ivano-Darivka resulted in heavy losses of personnel, tanks, and armored vehicles, leaving many wounded soldiers stranded in the grey zone. It seems like the Russian command figured that the main flaw in their assault was the elevated Ukrainian defensive positions above the village, rendering further attacks in this direction impractical.
That is why Russian forces launched a second wave of assaults along the elevated platfrom north of Ivano-Darivka, advancing from the Lysychansk Oil Refinery, where they had amassed numerous armored vehicles for the attack. This route aimed to reduce losses by positioning Russian mechanized units on the same elevation as Ukrainian defenders, hoping to reach and capture their positions. To preserve an element of surprise, Russian forces avoided heavy artillery and aerial bombardment of the Ukrainian positions, which later proved problematic.
The anticipated element of surprise failed, as Ukrainian commanders had already expected an assault along the elevated funnel. With only one dirt road leading from the main Russian positions at the Lysychansk Oil Refinery, Ukrainians were prepared to concentrate drone strikes and ATGM operators ont his narrow corridor to repel the assaults. Additionally, the narrowing down of the funnel to about one kilometer in width limited Russian maneuverability during the attack, making it easy for Ukrainian forces to detect and strike.
Combat footage shows that the Russians launched a substantial mechanized assault with eleven armored vehicles and over a hundred soldiers. However, they encountered issues before reaching Ukrainian positions, as Ukrainian forces identified and destroyed Russian tanks and BMPs with Stugna-P ATGMs. Most Russian armored losses were due to ATGM strikes—a rare occurrence, as FPV drones typically cause the majority of losses nowadays. This was likely due to the Russians’ failure to organize a coherent artillery and air support on Ukrainian positions, as alluded to by Russian sources. Standard Russian military protocols suggest that artillery should suppress most ATGM positions before an assault but due to the lack of coordination this did not happen.
Russian vehicles that were out of ATGM range were targeted by FPV drones, effectively forcing the remaining troops to retreat to whatever trenches and dugouts they found nearby. Ukrainian forces then deployed Mavic drones armed with grenades to eliminate Russian infantry who continued the assault, sparing only those fleeing the area. This worsened the situation for Russian forces, as disorganized stormtroopers from the damaged BMPs—many wounded—were scattered across open fields, hiding in abandoned and scattered dugouts and trenches.
Overall, despite previous failure, the Russians once again restarted their mechanized assaults towards Ivano-Darivka, resulting in heavy losses with many disorganized and wounded survivors of the assault left in grey zone. The number of Russian troops scattered across the fields near Ivano-Darivka, including wounded, is estimated to be up to a hundred. This assault and the previous one in Siversk direction met severe media backlash in Russia by their military analysts, who criticized the commanders in the area and called for their dismissal for their inability to organize offensive operations. This led to heavy losses in tanks and BMPs by Ukrainian ATGM crews, which not only prevented the Russian mechanized units from making any territorial gains, but also reduced the chances of success of any subsequent attacks due to the deterioration of combat readiness of the broken units.

The Telegram channel “Gostri Kartuzi” published a video showing the liquidation of a North Korean soldier in the near rear zone of Russian troops at a distance of about 5 kilometers from the front near Selidovo. Experts, having analyzed the face of the deceased in detail, determined that he was a representative of Korean nationality. Military expert Alexander Kovalenko explained that the physiognomic features of North Koreans, formed against the background of chronic malnutrition and vitamin deficiency, indicate that the liquidated fighter came from North Korea.
The video also shows that the deceased was carrying a large load , the volume of which is comparable to his build. This suggests that the Russians may be using North Koreans as labor to transport ammunition and provisions to the front lines. As Kovalenko notes, such a practice is common among Russian troops, since the use of equipment in the frontline zone is difficult due to the systematic destruction of vehicles by Ukrainian drones. Thus, the delivery of goods is carried out by foot porters who carry supplies on their backs.
The expert added that the use of North Koreans as labor in the war zone raises questions and suggested waiting for official confirmation before drawing final conclusions. Putin’s forces are believed to be losing hundreds of troops a day, with Ukrainian estimates going as high as 1,200 to 1,500, so the more than 10,000 troops South Korea believes are in Russia. “In the big picture, even 12,000 soldiers don’t affect the general situation of the war significantly,” says Emil Kastehelmi, who runs the Black Bird Group, which tracks the war in Ukraine.
The troops are already under fire, being shelled in the Russian border region of Kursk, according to Kyiv. That is the area where Ukrainian troops have held territory, having started a daring raid in August.
Questions have been raised about the calibre of the North Korean troops, not least because none of the group, which includes 500 officers and three generals, have any combat experience. North Korea’s isolation on the international stage means that its troops, which number more than a million, have faced nothing but training.
“None would think they are going to Russia to die,” Choi Jung Hoon, a former first lieutenant in North Korea’s army, told the Associated Press. “But I think they’re cannon fodder because they will be sent to the most dangerous sites and will surely be killed.”
