Save this reel and use it next time you want to upload a video on Instagram! Many people ask me how do I post my reels without losing great quality. It’s time to give you all one big answer! 🫡
1️⃣ Enable “high-quality uploads” on Instagram (tap the profile tab at the bottom
2️⃣ Shoot your videos in 4k if possible, but before uploading to Instagram, export it to 1080p first. Instagram showcases at 1080p (1080x1920px), so if you export a 4k video to the app, it becomes compressed to 1080p and loses its quality (Instagram does it in a bad way, hence why you want to do it yourself first).
3️⃣ Export your videos at 30fps. You can shoot in 30/60fps, but remember to export it to 30fps before uploading to Instagram. Rumors say that reels are being compressed to 30fps, so, again, you don’t want the app to compress your videos by itself. You don’t want to shoot in 24fps either because once you export it to 30fps, there will be a few missing frames, and your video will stutter.
4️⃣ Record and export in H.265 format. With more sophisticated compression algorithms, H.265 offers better quality than H.264 at the same bitrate.
5️⃣ Export your video as an MP4 file. It’s the most supported format on Instagram.
6️⃣ Try to keep your videos under 100 MB in size. There is no official size limit for Reels, but try to keep it under 100 MB to ensure smooth uploading.
7️⃣ When it comes to bitrate, I honestly leave it at automatic. Some people recommend exporting using a 25-35mb bitrate, but honestly, I have never tried adjusting that setting.
