They call it a special military operation. We called it Operation Iraqi Freedom. Different names, same damn thing: war. And like any war, it evolves. Remember when it was all tanks and artillery? Now, it’s buzzing death from the sky. These YouTube videos, they’re just glimpses, pixels on a screen, but they paint a picture. A picture of Crimea, once a Russian stronghold, now feeling the sting of a war they thought was safely across the border. Ukraine’s drone game in Crimea isn’t just about blowing things up; it’s about something bigger. It’s about pressure. It’s about making the occupiers feel it, right in their backyard. This isn’t some clean, antiseptic conflict fought on maps. This is real, and it’s messy. And it’s escalating.
Key Insights from the Drone Front
Targeting Strategic Assets: Forget front lines. Ukraine is hitting Russia where it hurts: oil refineries like Tuapse, military airfields, and logistics hubs in Crimea. These aren’t just pinprick attacks. We’re talking about strikes designed to cripple Russia’s ability to fuel its war machine and project power in the Black Sea. Disrupting oil exports, as mentioned in Video 1, chokes off Moscow’s cash flow – war ain’t cheap.
Crimea: From Fortress to Vulnerable Point: Video 2 nails it. Crimea was supposed to be Russia’s untouchable prize. Now, it’s becoming a liability. These drone strikes, combined with what Video 2 mentions as "underground resistance," are turning Crimea into a headache for the Kremlin. It’s no longer a secure rear area; it’s another front.
The "Sea Baby" Factor: Video 3 highlights Ukraine’s naval drone, the "Sea Baby." Don’t let the cute name fool you. This thing is a game changer. It’s forcing the Russian Black Sea Fleet to rethink its entire strategy. Sinking ships, hitting the Kerch Bridge – these aren’t just tactical victories; they’re psychological blows. Russia’s naval dominance in the Black Sea is no longer a given.

Escalation with Precision Strikes: Video 4 talks about ATACMS missiles alongside drones. This isn’t just about quantity; it’s about quality. ATACMS are serious ordnance. Using them in Crimea signals a willingness to escalate and a growing capability to deliver precise, long-range strikes. Overwhelming air defenses, as mentioned, is key to this strategy. It’s not just about hitting something; it’s about hitting the right things, with maximum impact.
Scale and Frequency: Video 5 and 6, along with Video 1, emphasize the sheer volume of drone attacks. "Biggest drone attack since the beginning of the year," according to Russian sources in Video 5. Whether it’s 128 drones downed or more getting through, the point is Ukraine is sustaining a high tempo of operations. This constant pressure wears down defenses, strains resources, and keeps the Russians off balance.
Asymmetric Warfare in the Black Sea: David vs. Goliath, Reimagined
What we’re seeing in Crimea isn’t conventional warfare. It’s asymmetric. Ukraine doesn’t have the naval power to go toe-to-toe with the Russian Black Sea Fleet. But drones? Drones level the playing field. They’re cheap, relatively expendable, and can deliver a punch way above their weight class. This is modern warfare in action – technology allowing a smaller force to inflict significant damage on a larger, more established military. The Ukrainians are innovating out of necessity, and they’re doing it damn effectively. This drone campaign is forcing Russia to divert resources to air defense, to rethink its logistics, and to acknowledge vulnerabilities it thought were secure. It’s a constant drain, both materially and psychologically.
The Buzzing Threat: What’s Next?
This drone war in Crimea isn’t going to disappear. Expect it to intensify. As Ukraine gets more capable drones, longer-range munitions, and better intelligence, these strikes will likely become more precise and more damaging. Russia will adapt, they always do, but adaptation takes time and resources. And time and resources are exactly what Ukraine is trying to bleed out of them. The videos suggest a continued focus on crippling Russia’s war economy and military logistics in the south. This means more strikes on oil and gas infrastructure, naval facilities, and supply lines. The Black Sea is becoming a contested space, and drones are the primary weapon shaping that contest. This isn’t just about Crimea; it’s about the entire Black Sea region and the balance of power in this conflict.

Ukraine targeted Russia’s energy exports by launching a drone strike against the strategic Black Sea port of Tuapse and a nearby oil refinery. This Ukrainian attack also hit military airfields in Crimea. Explosions and fires from the strikes damaged major oil facilities such as Rosneft and disrupted port and refinery operations.
The Ukrainian side aims to undermine Moscow’s ability to finance and conduct the war by hitting Russia’s military logistics. The Tuapse refinery in particular plays an important role in diesel and fuel oil exports, with a processing capacity of 240,000 barrels per day. Drone strikes in the region also disrupt the logistical support of the Russian Black Sea Fleet.
It is stated that these attacks may complicate the peace talks mediated by the United States. Ukrainian Defense Intelligence confirmed that they hit different targets in the Krasnodar region and Crimea. Russian sources also acknowledged drone strikes on facilities in Tuapse.
On the other hand, the Ukrainian war map shows Kiev advancing again in some eastern regions. Ukrainian forces are reportedly increasing pressure on the Pokrovsk and Toretsk fronts, but Russia is continuing its offensive in other areas.
Ukraine’s NASAMS air defense system has so far destroyed nearly 900 targets with 94% efficiency, forming an important line of defense against air strikes. Nevertheless, Russia has frequently deployed S-300V and other advanced systems in an attempt to restrict Ukraine’s air operations.
The latest developments are being carefully monitored in circles analyzing the Ukraine-Russia war. In particular, drone strikes on critical energy and logistics hubs along the Black Sea coast are putting pressure on both Russia’s home front and its military supply chain. As the conflict intensifies, issues such as peace talks, the rare earth minerals deal and the F-35 request continue to influence the course of the war and the diplomatic process.

#Kanal13 #likekanal13 #subscribekanal13 #warinukraine https://www.youtube.com/user/kanal13az?sub_confirmation=1 – SUBSCRIBE TO US! Russian forces downed 128 drones overnight on Feb. 26 over several Russian regions and Russian-occupied Crimea, the country’s Defense Ministry claimed.
The Russian air forces shot down 83 drones over Krasnodar Krai and destroyed another 30 drones over Russian-occupied Crimea. Eight drones were downed over the Azov, while another five over the Black Sea. Russia also reportedly shot down one drone in Bryansk and another in Kursk oblasts.
The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation said that this was the “biggest drone attack since the beginning of the year” and reported the destruction of 128 drones. In addition to everything else, the port in the city of Tuapse was hit.
Residents reported explosions in the cities of Tuapse and Anapa in Krasnodar Krai, while the airport in Sochi was closed due to a drone attack, the independent Telegram channel Astra reported.
The Tuapse sea trade port was also reportedly targeted, according to Astra.
The governor of Krasnodar Krai, Veniamin Kondratyev, said there were no casualties in the region, but several houses were damaged.
Ukraine routinely launches deep strikes against military and industrial facilities in Russia, primarily relying on domestically developed drones.
Kyiv has particularly taken aim at Russia’s fossil fuel infrastructure as part of its strategy to undermine funding for the Kremlin’s war chest.
In 2024 Russia has shot down 7,345 Ukrainian drones over 35 regions outside the combat zone.
According to the Russian military, the largest number of drones – 1,896 – were shot down over the territory of Belgorod Oblast, followed by Bryansk Oblast – 1,206 and Kursk Oblast – 1,170. These strikes come as President Donald Trump raising questions about the future of U.S. support for Ukraine. Ukrainian officials viewed the attacks as a demonstration of their capability to target critical infrastructure deep within Russian territory. http://youtube.com/kanal13az/join – click here and support Kanal13 monthly for distributing more videos and independent journalism
