Today, the biggest news comes from the Kursk direction.

Here, Ukrainians perfectly executed a complex tactical maneuver to eliminate the Russian spearhead while maintaining their combat potential, leading to the complete encirclement of the Russian assault group. The Russian relief operation launched on the Ukrainian flanks also ended in disaster, leading to Russian casualties soaring to an all-time high.

As you may remember from the last report, Ukrainians completely dismantled the Russian mechanized assault on Malaya Loknya, destroying 15 armored vehicles with mines and drones. Still, Russians managed to penetrate quite deep into Ukrainian territory, driving through multiple towns in the northern part of the salient. Ukrainians realized that holding on to settlements in the face of such a large Russian mechanized attack would come at a high cost to Ukrainian forces. This led to Ukrainians temporarily abandoning the settlements and pulling back toward better positions.

If we look at the topographic map, we can see that the road and settlements leading to Malaya Loknya run through the lowlands, surrounded by forests and hills to the west and east. Ukrainians withdrew from the settlements to the high ground, letting the Russian convoy pass through, and allowing it to be destroyed by previously placed mines and FPV drones. Russians dropped off several smaller infantry groups in the settlements they drove past. The Russian plan was for these groups to take up an all-round defense and secure the road for additional reinforcements to pass through in the future. However, these groups were left vulnerable and without support after the mechanized forces were destroyed. Meanwhile, Ukrainians had saved their combat power by not engaging the Russian assault outright, and were in a much stronger position in the forests and on top of the hills.

As Russians did not have enough soldiers to cover the settlements completely, Ukrainians rapidly moved into the gaps and encircled the Russian soldiers stuck in the settlements. Russians realized the disaster that was unfolding and sent in several armored vehicles to break through to the encircled soldiers. Unfortunately for Russians, this time, Ukrainians did not allow the Russians to pass through, as geolocated footage shows several Russian armored vehicles being destroyed by Ukrainian defenders. Russian military analysts later confirmed that no reinforcements were able to break through to their soldiers and that these groups had been fully cut off for days, relying solely on supplies dropped from drones.

To salvage the situation and turn the tide of the battle, Russians increased the pressure on the Ukrainian western flank, launching five waves of mechanized assaults on Novoivanovka in only one day. Here is where Ukrainians inflicted massive casualties on Russian forces, destroying 18 out of 29 Russian armored vehicles in the process. Still, Russians were able to land several infantry groups in the settlement and the tree lines around it, posing a substantial threat to the Ukrainian western flank. Ukrainians promptly dealt with the Russian threat by sending in several mechanized assault groups, supported by Bradley Infantry Fighting vehicles, to clear out the Russian positions. Impressively, the Ukrainian modifications to the Bradleyā€™s armor allowed them to shrug off several hits by Russian FPV kamikaze drones, and safely deploy their infantry to clear the positions. The original uncensored combat footage of the Ukrainian counterattack can be found on our Telegram channel through the link in the description.

Overall, Ukrainians demonstrated expert control of the situation and their movements, allowing them to gain tactical superiority over the Russian assault forces. Executing a maneuver, such as withdrawing from the settlements and returning, during actual combat, takes expert timing and coordination, which is only possible with well-trained and rested soldiers. Russian casualties soared, as Ukrainian soldiers noted that Russians had lost over three hundred men during their failed assaults on Novoivanovka and the subsequent Ukrainian counterattacks. Russian analysts were also among the first to state that Ukrainians had effectively localized the threat of the initial Russian spearhead and took back control over the settlements. Now, the only danger to Ukrainian operations is the fact that the encircledā€¦

Today there are a lot of interesting updates from the Toretsk direction. Here, the Ukrainians successfully destroyed once-powerful Russian defensive positions by extensively using improvised explosives by demolition squads. This significantly destabilized Russian positions in this part of the front, giving the Ukrainians an opportunity for the second wave of counterattacks. Earlier, Russian operations in Toretskā€™s central high-rise area stalled as their forces faced constant raids by Ukrainian stormtrooper squads, coordinated with drone strikes. Over time, Ukrainian drone attacks intensified, with combat footage showing Russian soldiers attempting to play dead in a desperate effort to evade drones, only to be detected and eliminated. Unlike in many other areas of the front, Ukrainian drone operators in Toretsk were able to more easily locate Russian drone positions. Combat footage from one operation showed a Ukrainian drone identifying Russian drone operators three kilometers behind the frontline and destroying their base. Such strikes significantly suppressed Russian drone activity in Toretsk, enabling Ukrainian soldiers to assault Russian positions with reduced risk of drone strikes. The original uncensored combat footage of these operations can be found on our Telegram channel through the link in the description. With Russian drone activity suppressed, Ukrainian soldiers seized the opportunity to approach Russian defensive positions in central high-rises and demolish them with heavy explosives. A video shared by Ukrainian fighters reveals their preparation of explosives for demolition squads, mostly improvising with available resources. They repurposed 17 TM-62 anti-tank mines and C-4 charges, bundling them into large packages and attaching cables for detonation. These explosive devices are powerful enough to destroy large high-rise buildings where many Russian fighters are stationed. Combat footage from the high-rise area shows the detonation of these explosives, completely destroying a nine-story building used by Russian forces to amass troops, operate drones, and establish command points. Another video captures the demolition of a second high-rise with similar improvised explosives. These high-rises offered strategic firing positions for Russian soldiers, who used them to set up machine guns, anti-tank missile posts, and drone launch sites. With the destruction of these buildings, Russian defenses in the high-rise area were significantly weakened, as most of the structures were reduced to ruins. The destruction of key Russian firing positions and drone bases set the stage for a coordinated Ukrainian counterattack on Toretskā€™s central high-rises. The Ukrainians initially targeted two high-rises facing the northern part of the city, creating a gap in Russian defenses that allowed Ukrainian stormtroopers to advance behind the remaining high-rises. Buildings facing westward were ineffective in repelling Ukrainian assaults, as their narrow, windowless sides left them with blind spots. With their main defensive positions compromised, Russian forces were pushed from the compromized high-rises. The Ukrainian counterattack successfully recaptured a third of the high-rise district and surrounding areas in central Toretsk, with ongoing efforts to push Russian forces out of the remaining high-rise positions.

Overall, the Ukrainians successfully suppressed the Russian firing positions, demolished them with explosives, and gradually started retaking lost positions from crumbling Russian defenses. Ukrainian Luhansk Group of Forces Spokesperson Major Anastasiya Bobovnikova reported that Russian forces have decreased their attacks in Toretsk but have not decreased their artillery and air strikes. Intense artillery and air strikes have however switched their purpose, as Russians are desperately trying to suppress advancing Ukrainians in all-out defense, which often led to accidentally bombing their troops in brutal friendly-fire incidents, which help to amplify Ukrainian operations even more.

Today, there are a lot of updates from the Pokrovsk direction.

Here, Russian forces have kept up a consistent but slow advance while Ukrainians are managing a fighting withdrawal against overwhelming odds.

The goal of the Russian forces here is twofold. First of all, Russians are trying to cut off the Ukrainian Kostyantynivka-Pokrovsk highway, splitting Ukrainian forces in two. The second is to take control over the city of Pokrovsk itself. To accomplish this, Russians need to first fully secure their salient by pushing Ukrainians to the Vovcha River. This would remove the threat of Ukrainian counterattacks and secure their logistic routes against Ukrainian drone activity.

Russians have moved a considerable number of brigades to the region to give themselves an overwhelming manpower advantage. This has allowed Russians to keep up a creeping advance, as Ukrainian doctrine continues to value saving soldiersā€™ lives over holding on to lost positions. As Ukrainians cannot contend with the Russian manpower advantage straight on, Ukrainian forces in the region have adopted several tactics to slow the Russian process significantly.

Firstly, Ukrainians conduct regular counterattacks and raids on Russian positions with armored vehicles and deploy assault groups where Russians are vulnerable. Geolocated footage shows one Ukrainian Bradley driving up and firing on a Russian position to undermine the Russian advance toward the river. Another video shows how two Bradley infantry fighting vehicles fire into a Russian tree line to undermine Russian attacks on one of the settlements. The Footage also shows how, after the Bradleys laid into the Russian trenches with automatic cannons, two Ukrainian assault groups deployed to clear the trenches further and cut off the Russian advancement. The original uncensored footage of Ukrainian assaults with Bradleys can be found on our Telegram channel through the link in the description.

Secondly, Ukrainians mine the approaches to their positions with anti-infantry and anti-tank mines, as shown by this Russian mechanized attack being cut short when the lead vehicle drives over a mine and detonates. Thirdly, Ukrainians target Russian forces with FPV drones and heavy-duty Vampire drones, not only along the contact line but over the entire Russian salient. Ukrainian Vampire hexacopter drones destroy buildings Russians are sheltering in with heavy explosives or by carpet bombing them with individual mortar rounds.

Ukrainian FPV drones fly around and target Russian infantry and shelters, as well as supply trucks and vehicles deeper into the salient, heavily disrupting the Russian ability to launch attacks and sustain prolonged assault operations. The problem of Ukrainian FPVs is so extensive for Russian forces that one Ukrainian drone captured a Russian soldier, choosing to end his own life, as soon as he heard a Ukrainian drone fly over his head, without even attempting to run or otherwise putting up a fight. The original uncensored video of all Ukrainian drone strikes can be found on our Telegram channel as well.

The main defensive line that Ukrainians were making a fighting withdrawal to stood firmly behind the Vovcha River, with fortified positions on the hills overlooking any Russian crossing point. The only weak spot in this Ukrainian defense line was the small settlement of Prohres. One reason for this was the railway line running by the settlement. Defending this railway line is more difficult for Ukrainians, as Russians do not have to make a risky crossing through any open fields and can move through cover toward the Ukrainian positions. Secondly, if we look at the topographic map, we can see that Russians would also be moving over the hill ridges, denying Ukrainians the high-ground advantage.

Russians understood this and launched a massive two-pronged assault on Prohres along the railway line and from Novooleksandrivka from the north. While initially being able to hold the Russians at bay, Ukrainian defenses eventually relented under the intense pressure. Through this, Russians managed to encircle a number of soldiers of the 31st mechanized brigade in a strong fortification meant to provide fire control over the railway line. While senior commanders were slow to act, the junior officers of the battalions took quick action, as they knew that every second counted. With the help of coordinatedā€¦

Today, there are a lot of updates from the Kurakhove direction.

Recently, the Russian forces have launched a series of probing attacks around Kostiantynivka, each attempt failing to breach the resilient Ukrainian defenses. However, one of the most significant and intense mechanized assaults of the war took place recently, featuring a massive flank attack from the north of Kostiantynivka that promised to change the dynamics on the battlefield dramatically.

North of Kostiantynivka lies the small village of Pobieda, which fell into Russian hands a month ago. Exploiting its proximity to Marinka, Russian forces have determined that advancing beyond Pobieda should become their primary objective. This move aims to boost their northern advance and cripple Ukrainian supply routes in the area. If successful, this audacious strategy would place Ukrainian forces in Kostiantynivka under pressure from the north, east, and south, while also allowing the Russians to preserve personnel and equipment by avoiding costly frontal assaults from Novomykhailivka. Central to this offensive operation is the utilization of the local road from Marinka to Kostiantynivka, providing the Russians with a crucial tactical advantage for rapid mechanized assaults. The most significant obstacles to their advance are the fortified Ukrainian defensive positions within the tree lines and the vineyard located next to the road. Military bloggers reported that to undermine them, apart from using regular artillery, Russian forces engaged Ukrainian tanks located around the vineyard. The defenders used them not only to suppress any enemy advancement attempts with their powerful cannons but also to conduct counterattacks. Geolocated footage released by Russian sources shows how a Ukrainian Leopard tank is attacked with an FPV drone in a tree line, which leads to fire and detonation of the vehicle. After conducting various such preparations, the Russians started launching mechanized assaults through the village of Pobieda.

The Russian plan consisted of two critical steps. First, they aimed to overwhelm the local defense with a sufficiently strong assault group, swiftly taking control of the vineyard and the nearby fortifications. This initial phase was crucial for securing a foothold in the area. Second, they intended to capitalize on this momentum to gain more territory southwest of Pobieda. This move aimed to fortify their positions against potential Ukrainian counterattacks, which would likely be launched to prevent the Russians from entrenching themselves further south of the village. By executing these steps, the Russians hoped to create a stable front line and reduce the risk of losing newly acquired ground.

Ukrainian forces responsible for the defense of this section of the frontline released a video showing how they reacted to the first step in the Russian plan, namely the frontal storm operation using various armored vehicles on the highway from Marinka. Once again, the video gives a good overview of not only the large force that the Russians used in this operation but also how prepared the Ukrainian defense was. Even with weakened support due to the Russian preparation attacks against defensive assets just before the assault, Ukrainian artillery and drone operator units unleashed all their firepower against the enemy armored column. Several Russian infantry fighting vehicles can be seen getting damaged by mines, artillery shells, and kamikaze drones even before being able to pass through Pobieda. Others were destroyed just before the vineyard and the disembarked surviving Russian troops were quickly engaged by the Ukrainians with grenades dropped by drones. All uncensored footage from this Russian attack can be found on our Telegram channel linked in the description.

Despite the fierce Ukrainian resistance and the failure of the first step of the Russian plan, which aimed to gain control over the vineyard, Russian forces managed to partially achieve the secondary objective. They executed a successful westward assault from Pobieda, advancing by a few hundred meters into the field. This maneuver allowed them to slightly increase a buffer zone, thereby protecting themselves against potential Ukrainian flank maneuversā€¦
