Speaking in the Oval Office Wednesday, U.S. President Donald Trump provided an update about ongoing efforts to broker a peace deal between Russia and Ukraine in their long-running war. Though Trump told reporters, โI think we have a deal with Russia,โ he suggested no progress has been made with Ukraine. โI thought it might be easier to deal with [Ukrainian President Volodomyr] Zelenskyy. So far, it’s been harder,โ the Republican leader said. Upon being asked about a U.S. proposal presented to Ukraine that would see Crimea recognized as a Russian territory, Trump dodged the question, saying, โI have no favourites,โ and, โI just want to see the war end. I don’t care if they are both happy.โ
