LITHUANIANS gathered in the northern town of Siauliai on Wednesday (July 6) to see a Turkish-made drone set to be sent to Ukraine after a crowd-funding campaign.
Thousands gathered at a military airfield near Siauliai to see the Bayraktar TB2 combat drone, adorned with the logo of a hawk and Lithuanian and Ukrainian colours.
“I donated myself, so I came to see the result”, said Ieva Skeryte, after taking a selfie and saying how happy she was that the drone would soon be transferred to Ukraine.
Lithuanians crowdfunded almost 6 million euros ($6.11 million) in small donations in May for the drone, following which Turkish manufacturer Baykar donated it instead.
