Ukrainian forces destroy ‘2 Russian APCs & 3 trucks with attack drones’

Ukrainian intelligence has said that the country’s special forces have blown up two Russian armoured personnel carriers and three trucks over the last few days, as this footage reportedly shows.

The images begin with what appears to be a peaceful countryside, with the footage apparently filmed from a drone and showing a field of sunflowers – the country’s national flower – somewhere in Ukraine.

The footage then cuts to images of what appear to be Russian military vehicles being destroyed by Ukrainian forces.

The footage shows the vehicles filmed from above as they are apparently bombed by attack drones. The footage then shows other Russian military vehicles being destroyed by other means.

Some of the Russian vehicles can be seen sporting the now infamous ‘Z’ symbol on them. The ‘Z’, as well as the letters ‘V’ and ‘O’, is one of the symbols that can be seen painted on Russian military vehicles taking part in the invasion of Ukraine.

The footage was obtained from the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) on Sunday, 31st July, along with a statement saying: “The Russians sat in the bushes and thought that no one would find them…
Chernobyl Exclusion Zone

I was visiting Ukraine by the end of last summer and did a two days trip to the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone.

And just as if the events around this place would not be tragic enough, a few month later it was occupied by Russian troops. I still can not wrap my head around that. Supposedly Russian soldiers were even digging trenches in the Red Forest, which is among the most contaminated area and our dossimeters were freaking out as we passed by there…

However, you could only enter the area with an organized tour, but despite the “Disaster-Disneyland-Character” of the entire thing, this trip was an amazing experience. In our tour were only people from Ukraine and Russia and I was the only guy from the west. There was also a lovely Russian/Ukrainian couple and I can’t imagine what they must be going through now.

At least for now Chernobly is back under Ukrainian control, but the fighting continues elsewere. It’s heartbreaking to think about all the lovely people there and the suffering that they have to endure.

This footage reportedly shows Ukrainian forces taking out two Russian howitzers in the Kharkiv region.

The footage appears to show Ukrainian artillery taking out Russian self-propelled howitzers. It was obtained from the 92nd Mechanised Brigade of the Ukrainian Ground Forces on Sunday, 31st July, along with a short statement saying: “Are we ready to hold Kharkiv Oblast? Ready! The fight continues!”

The images and statement were also relayed by the Office of Strategic Communications (StratCom) of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Monday, 1st August, along with a statement saying that the 92nd Mechanised Brigade “reminded the Russian occupiers that Kharkiv region is Ukraine”.

It added: “This time the orcs did not add up to two self-propelled guns. Believe in the Armed Forces of Ukraine! Ukraine will win!”

Ukraine forces regularly refer to Russian troops as “orcs”.

Ukrainian media reported that the two self-propelled howitzers that were destroyed were 2S3 Akatsiyas.

Russia invaded Ukraine on 24th February in what the Kremlin is calling a “special military operation”. Today marks the 159th day of the invasion.
